People Who Experience Spontaneous Remission

September 9, 2020/in Healthy Living Tips /by Jill Kurtz

People who are lucky enough to experience a spontaneous remission have three things in common, according to Dr. Joan Borysenko. This does not necessarily mean that you will experience a remission if all these things are present in your life.

Borysenko’s research in 2013 found that individuals who experienced spontaneous remission shared these traits:

  1. A belief in human potential—that it is possible for human beings to heal themselves of illness
  2. A belief in their own potential—that it is possible for them to heal themselves
  3. They experience a spiritual transformation.

My Self-Healing Experience

Though the remission in my case was not exactly spontaneous, it did happen relatively quickly (in a few years) after I discovered I had lupus and started my spiritual journey. At that time, I did start to believe that the body knew how to heal itself.

I had heard many stories of people whose cancer went into remission. I also believed very strongly that I, too, could get better.

It took a while, but I did go through a spiritual transformation. It was not dramatic. I became less angry and more grateful. I stopped gossiping and judging myself and others. I learned to love myself and appreciate others and the beauty surrounding me. I started to keep a gratitude journal, where I listed at least five things to appreciate each morning. I forgave others for perceived wrongs in the past and present.

I think these last two practices are extremely important when one is ill. Gratitude not only helps you see what is going right in your life, no matter how sick you are, but also brings more to be grateful about. And, as it is often quoted from A Course in Miracles, “When you are ill, look around and see who it is you need to forgive.”

This research and more is included in my book, Speak Your Truth. Part memoir, part self-help book, I wrote it to share my self-healing journey with you.

Healing a Relationship Issue with Energy

September 1, 2020/in Healthy Living Tips /by Jill Kurtz

I was asked to do a group energy healing session at a wellness center. In this group energy healing session, I use an energy healing technique called clearing.

I tune into the group’s energy and determine any limiting beliefs that the group members have. I also use the dynamic of the collective consciousness to increase the amplitude of energy in the room.

Several people showed up for this group energy healing. One person who attended was a colleague who I just met at a luncheon. I will call her Amanda to protect her privacy.

As I was sending healing energy to the group, one of the beliefs I picked up from the collective was the willingness to let love into their lives. Source gave me the words to say to start clearing this limiting belief.

I declared with enthusiasm and loving kindness that it is safe to let the love in. That there is nothing to fear in love. That it is safe to be in a relationship.

Amanda called me after the session and thanked me for helping her release the belief of not feeling safe to let love in. I did not know this was her issue until she called me. She had gone through a rough marriage and even messier divorce, so it was understandable that she was not willing to commit to a serious relationship.

Later, I found out she moved in with a man who loved her very much. She let go of the fear of commitment. They now enjoy a happy, loving, and harmonious relationship.

This is the essence what I do as an intuitive energy healer.

If you have issues with relationships, I invite you to join me in a group energy healing session. You may be very glad you did!

Healing Pericarditis through Meditation

October 26, 2016/in Healthy Living Tips /by Natalie

Sometime ago I had the joy of attending Dr. Joe Dispenza’s Advanced workshop. I had taken several prerequisite courses and workshops leading up to this, and I was looking forward to it.

However, because of the stress of traveling, i.e. catching a connecting flight, renting a car, and finding the hotel, I developed a moderate case of pericarditis.

I thought I was in trouble and that I wouldn’t be able to enjoy the workshop.

Conventional medicine would dictate that anti-inflammatories and rest were in order until it no longer hurt to breathe.

However, I ignored that advice and stayed in the workshop.

We did several meditations, one of which is called the Blessing of the Energy Centers, which is believed to promote health and harmony in the body. After several hours, the pericarditis was gone! It just dissolved into the nothingness from where it came.

I did exactly the opposite of what I was supposed to do. I didn’t rest in the hotel room. I didn’t take any medicine. I danced during breaks.

And I trusted in the healing process through meditation.

My theory is that I calmed down and centered myself during these meditations. When your thinking is peaceful, calm and centered, no “itis” can exist anywhere in the body.

My thinking is peaceful, calm and centered.

I highly recommend Dr. Joe Dispenza’s work for creating anything in your life you desire, including vibrant health and wellness.

Not only was I feeling great the rest of the weekend, I was very happy and blissful as well.

I think the key to health and happiness is meditation and affirmations. That’s how I recovered from lupus and have had no active disease for over a decade.

And doctors say that the longer your disease is inactive, the more likely it will stay inactive.

So give meditation and affirmations a shot. You have nothing to lose but your illness.

The Most Important Lesson I Learned from Having Lupus

“You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience where you really stop and look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘I have lived through this horror, I can take the next thing that comes along.’ You must do the thing you think you cannot do.”

I was always picked on as a kid. I was too afraid to stand up for and defend myself. I remember one particular instance where I was bullied on the bus by a classmate in the eighth grade, and instead of standing up to her and fighting back, I avoided her. I would walk home through the streets and the woods after school. Even the creepy creek, with its old bridge and quietness, did not deter me. I think I would have rather died than stand up for myself back then.

I had the same problem through adolescence and early adulthood. I ended up working for a supervisor who was a bully. She would lose her temper with me frequently if my work was not perfect, and would tell me I was stupid. I even had one co-worker actually throw something at me in anger. However, I did not defend myself. My supervisor would describe me as someone with a meek and mild manner.

Then one day, when I was 29 years old, I noticed that my hands were hurting when I woke up in the morning. I could hardly bend my fingers because they were so swollen. I was in a lot of pain. I then went to see my doctor, who ran some tests. She noticed that my white blood count was low, my red blood count was low, and my platelet count was low. She diagnosed it as systemic lupus erythematosus, or SLE. I knew that the disease could be fatal if left untreated. So, she referred me to a rheumatologist for treatment.

My rheumatologist quickly put me on plaquenil for the inflammation in my joints. I had to be hospitalized twice for observation because the lab work looked so abnormal. I even had pericarditis, which is an inflammation of the lining around the heart. Sometimes it hurt to breathe and this symptom would cause me to take off work for several days at a time.

At around this same time, I learned about the world of self-help through a colleague of mine. I discovered the work of Louise Hay, who believed in the metaphysical healing of illness through affirmations. When I read her book, You Can Heal Your Life, I realized that what she had to say seemed right. Her philosophy really resonated with me. She believed that the same mind that created the illness can create wellness in the body. She worked with many clients and discovered the metaphysical causes and treatments of illness through affirmations. She believe people could heal through thought alone.

I was particularly interested in her probable cause of lupus, which was “A giving up. Better to die than stand up for oneself. Anger and punishment.” I also noted the new thought pattern, which was “I speak up for myself freely and easily. I claim my power. I love and approve of myself. I am free and safe.”

Every day I repeated this affirmation. I repeated it in front of the mirror, first thing in the morning and before I went to bed at night. Then my life slowly started to change. I started to speak up and ask for the jobs I wanted at work, and because they liked me, they gave them to me. I stood up to a co-worker who often picked on me, and to my surprise, she backed down immediately! I never knew that standing up for myself was so easy. I had such a hard time in my youth believing that!

The best part of doing these affirmations was that I started to feel better. I loved myself more. I respected myself enough to defend myself and ask for what I wanted.   Then I started to exercise, because after all, loving yourself means taking care of yourself. I started to eat better – I even gave up refined sugar for a while. Finally the rheumatologist confirmed when I already knew for some time, that I had no active disease for a long time!   He told me to just keep doing what I’ve been doing. He was happy for me and stated that he could not take any credit for it – I had gotten better by myself.

I thank Louise Hay profusely for showing me the way, but I have another person in my life for whom to be grateful. My mother was such a great role model for standing up for oneself. She often reminded me of the Iron Lady, Margaret Thatcher. My dad described her as “formidable”. However, she was a loving person who asserted herself when necessary. She really taught me to stand up for myself at an early age, and even though I didn’t follow it at first, I put it into practice later on in life when I discovered Louise Hay. What a gift I had been given! It is my desire that you also learn from my story. I really believe the way to recover from lupus is stand up for yourself. “You must do the thing you think you cannot do”, as Eleanor Roosevelt would say. I invite you to learn to speak up for yourself whenever necessary if you suffer from lupus. You will be very glad you did – you just may get better like I did!

Look for the Blessings Even in Negative Experiences

August 9, 2016/in Healthy Living Tips, Positive Thinking /by Natalie

Many of us have a tough time during the holidays. I thought I would repost a blog that tells a story of what I have learned about so-called negative experiences. Enjoy!

I once had a friend who, when I met her, was looking for a job within our company. She was being laid off, and wanted to switch to another department. I told her they were hiring in my department, and she agreed to have lunch with me to talk about this opportunity.

When we sat down, I told her that I liked my job, and that I appreciated the people I worked with. The managers were helpful with any questions I had, and most of the people were nice. In short, I liked where I was, and did not see the job ending anytime soon. There were too many issues to be resolved, and there was too much work to be done. So, she interviewed for the job, and because of her vast, relevant experience, she got the job.

However, she realized that she did not like the job at all. She felt the environment was very negative, and even got assigned to a task that was grueling, tedious and hard work. She had to meet a quota every week, and was having trouble meeting that quota.

Later we found out that her old job ended up being more secure, and that it never would go away thanks to increased funding. I asked her if she regretted leaving the old job just to come to this new department with the tedious assigned work. She actually said she did not regret coming over at all.

I thought she was nuts.

Then the worst happened, to both of us. We both got laid off from our jobs (remember, this was a job I thought was very secure – you just never know). I was struggling to find a job for months, since it was during the Recession. My friend found a great job in a new field that she was very good at, and that job gave her experience where she was very much in demand.

She went on to obtain her PMP (Project Management Professional) certification, and even ended up with a nice bonus for getting certified! I realized that if she had stayed in that safe, old job, she would have never discovered this exciting new field, and would have never gotten the PMP certification. She would not have gotten paid as much, and would never have received that nice bonus. Her experience taught me something: there is a blessing in every experience, even when it appears to be very negative.

I invite you to look for the positive aspects in the so-called negative experiences you have had in life. I promise you will find the blessings in that situation. Remember that life is full of both positive and negative experiences, and it is your job to find the jewels amongst the so-called garbage in life.

How I Recovered from Lupus

August 9, 2016/in Healthy Living Tips, Positive Thinking /by Natalie

One day in the fall of 1996, I woke up with severe joint pain in my fingers.  I had a difficult time bending them.  I went to the doctor, and after running several tests over several months, I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus.  My white blood count was low, my red blood count was low, my platelet count was low, and the Antinuclear Antibody (ANA) Test was positive.

Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease which is highly unpredictable.  Each person has their own individual experience with lupus.  Some people have joint pain, others have kidney disease (nephritis), and others can get rashes and mouth sores.  Lupus can “flare” when one least expects it, even when they feel they are taking care of themselves.  Lupus can also be a painful disease.  I often had pericarditis, which is inflammation of the pericardium, the lining around the heart.  It hurt just to breathe when I had an episode.

However, I feel fortunate that I was able to recover with no active disease by 2002.  A co-worker told me about You Can Heal Your Life by Louise L. Hay.  I read the probable cause for lupus:

A giving up.  Better to die than to stand up for one’s self.  Anger and punishment.

When I read those words, it was like a bell went off.  Since childhood, I was always the one that got picked on.  I never defended myself when confronted – I was too afraid to.  I really would have rather died than to stand up for myself.  This continued until I was diagnosed at 30 years of age.  I even had a supervisor who described me as “meek and mild”, even “timid”.

So I went to work on assertiveness right away.  By the way, the new thought pattern for lupus is as follows:

I speak up for myself freely and easily.  I claim my power.  I love and approve of myself.  I am free and safe.

I was just beginning to change my state of being.  I repeated the affirmation often, and I started to become that assertive person.  I asked for what I wanted at work.  For example, there was a job that I wanted in the department where I was working.  I simply asked for it, and because I was well-liked, they gave it to me.  I also started to defend myself if someone confronted me at work.  I never had the courage to do that before!  It was empowering and far easier than I thought it would be.

Also, I started to meditate around that same time, only for about 15 minutes per day.  There are many benefits to meditation.  Meditation increases brain wave coherence, which contributes to health and wellness.  It also increases focus and reduces stress and anxiety.  Since I started meditating, I became a more joyful, happier person.  I began to lighten up on myself.  I loved myself enough to defend myself when necessary and ask for what I wanted.

Then I hired a personal trainer to improve my physical health.  Before I knew it I was getting up in the morning at 4:00 am to go work out in the gym.  I never felt better, and that’s when my rheumatologist confirmed I had no active disease and had been that way for quite some time.  He simply said, “Whatever you’re doing, keep on doing it!” He also took me off of plaquenil, the medication I was taking for lupus.

Ever since then I have lived a normal, happy, healthy life.  However, my ANA test was still positive, and I still had occasional flare ups, even though the disease was not active.  Then I discovered the work of Dr. Joe Dispenza.  I started attending his workshops and got into a habit if meditating 60-90 minutes every morning.   He would often say that people healed themselves of diseases like lupus and cancer by meditating.  So, I continued attending his workshops and meditating.  In August of 2015, after two years, I saw my rheumatologist.  She ran a battery of tests, all particular to lupus.  They were all normal.  Best of all, the ANA test came back negative!!  The disease had finally left my body for good.  I haven’t had any symptoms since June of 2015.  It’s like I never had lupus.  My former rheumatologist had even questioned if I had lupus at all!  Finally, he did conclude, that what happened to me in 1996, and the few years following it, was significant.  I definitely was diagnosed correctly with lupus.

It is my desire to help others with my story, so I wrote Speak Your Truth:  How You Can Recover from Lupus.  If it even helps one person heal from disease, I will be overjoyed.  I am grateful I had the tools to recover.  Know that you have everything you need biologically and neurologically from disease.  You just need to be willing to do the work.

Six Reiki Principles

August 9, 2016/in Healthy Living Tips, Positive Thinking /by Natalie

I realized I didn’t need to read the dozens of self-help books I have read over the years to live an authentic, spiritual life.

The six Reiki Principles really sum up beautifully how one should live. Here are the principles:
Just for today,

Do not be angry.
Do not worry.
Be grateful.
Do your work with diligence.
Be kind to others.

These seem simple, right? Deceptively simple, because I don’t always follow them. Circumstances of life sometimes get in the way. Someone cuts me off on the highway, and I get angry and scream at them.
The annoying salesperson emails me for the umpteenth time at work, wanting me to do something for them, which just means more work for me. Someone calls me, wanting a conference call with a confused customer who can’t understand their bill.

I can tell you what is helping me currently with this quandary. I have started meditating about my vision for my ideal self, who avoids anger and is kind to others. I do it in the morning, setting the tone for the day, resolving to be a more compassionate, more patient and less judgmental. Then in the evening, I review how I did and forgive myself for any times I have strayed from my vision for myself.

It’s working already.

I affirmed that I am surrounded by good drivers on the road, and amazingly had no problems with anyone cutting me off – there was no reason to be angry! I have found myself patiently helping the annoying salesperson, even when it means more work for me. I have answered the phone when “that person” calls, gladly granting his request for a conference call. By the end of the day, though, I find myself slipping into the old familiar habits of judging others, and not being very kind.

However, during my evening mediation, I forgive myself and try to learn from the times I slipped.
I try to be gentle and kind with myself. This is a process, and real change takes time.
But it is so worth it. I have never been happier, and more grateful.

When you are more kind and loving to others, you create more love and kindness in your life.

Why I Chose to Be a Reiki Practitioner

August 2, 2016/in Healthy Living Tips, Positive Thinking /by Natalie

When I think about why I chose to be a Reiki practitioner, I always remember what my mother taught me:  That we are here to serve others.

I believe healing others is a large part of my life purpose.  I healed myself of lupus and want to help others heal as well.  That is how I want to serve others in this lifetime.  It’s the legacy I would like to leave behind.  I want to leave this world a better place by helping others heal themselves.

I don’t believe it’s “me” doing the healing when I practice Reiki.  I had asked to simply be a conduit of the Divine, passing along pure positive Reiki energy for someone else’s healing.  I am so glad I received this gift.

It is an honor and a privilege to offer others healing from disease, as well as from problem situations.  I help others relieve stress and tension from living an active, busy life.  I also help others release emotional blocks from their past or their past lives that keep them from living their best lives in the present.

I don’t do this alone.  I have a strong connection with angels and archangels, and I invite them to each Reiki session.  I’m always pleasantly surprised (and I shouldn’t be!) when a client tells me they sensed angels gathering around the massage table during our session!

I am happy to help anyone who needs healing in their lives.  I especially want to help others who are stressed and overwhelmed by disease or their life situation.  I want to help the people that want to change their lives for the better.  I really appreciate the people that want to improve themselves so they can pay it forward and help others.

Join me on our journey of healing through pure positive Reiki energy!
